Lisa Brognano brings the reader into her poems much like a viewer becomes interested in a movie, as if one were watching the event unfold in real-time.  She takes the ordinary and creates a mood, challenging the reader to feel the emotions of a poem’s character.  As the reader absorbs each poem, it is as if her subjects become sentient beings. As the reader digests the lyrics and is drawn into conversation with the subject of one poem, there is subtle anticipation for what she will write about next.  I highly recommend The Willow Howl. (Deanne Johnson, Librarian)
