THE NEXT TIMES
by Margarita Serafimova

The next times were surrounding me,
and everything in their evening light
was quivering with unconscious potential.

I was yearning for you, for an answer from you
when I raised my gaze to the air.
An incomparable life.

A person in love is walked by a road.
When they reach the crest,
they walk on air.

The high wings of survival were unfolding and folding,
and unfolding above the water in mind-boggling beauty.
I was above ruin.

A horse was riding me.
That horse was darkness.
I had nothing but its dark.
And a heavy saddle.
A cry with woe.
