MOUNTAIN CLIMBER
A poem by Michael Brinkac

Climbing a mountain.
Yes, Yes,
I’m climbing a mountain.
Here I am, climbing a mountain.

Life for me,
is climbing a mountain,
but where are the others?
Is it only me, only me?

Have you ever climbed a mountain?
It’s hard. It’s risky.
You go it alone!

I think, I have a plan,
a very good plan, a great idea,
of what’s it all about.
I’ll soon find out, if I’m correct!

It’s not just for me,
but for all others.
I’ve come a long way, a lot of mileage!
I look pretty good with so much mileage!

Watch where I’m stepping!
It could be my last,
only to fall from my mountain!

To start again, with nothing to show,
with so little time left, so I must hurry!
Better watch my step!

No safety rope to break my fall,
and I’ve been warned,
but that’s my choice,
that’s just me, just me!
Have you ever climbed a mountain?
It’s long and steep!
You go alone, all alone!

Maybe, I’m wrong!
Maybe, it’s not about
climbing mountains, not reaching the top,
to plant my flag, my personal flag?

I don’t want to name a mountain!
So, why am I here?
Is this my choice?

Is my life just climbing mountains?
And, if so, where are the others?
So, where are they?

I call out from the mountain,
for someone to help!
But, I hear only echoes, only echoes!

The mountain is mine and mine alone!
What will I find at the top?
What do you think?

Now, I know what it’s all about.
The answer, lies above the mountain!
That’s the answer!
Now, I finally know!

God made a plan for me
to climb a mountain.
Why, I wonder?
Aren’t there easier ways?
But, here I am according to His plan.

I accept what’s been ordained for me, only me.
This is my path, what He decided for me!

Have you ever
climbed a mountain?
You only get one chance!
So, do your best, do your very best!

Sometimes, I would like to ease the slope
but, what I would really like,
is for someone to hear, what I have to say,
as I climb my mountain!

I’ll do my best to climb this mountain.
I look forward to see, to finally see,
what He promised me!
