Mistake

mistake
mistake
like bluebirds
quiet
ad singing
the regret song
it sounds
alive
it sounds forgotten
but I know what she did
even the angels
do
and nobody cries on the outside
anymore
tears stay warm
they stay safe
they hurt a little more
there
inside holding
tiger eyes

Sad

a pretty sad
gentle rain on Tuesday
nights, a ghost in the hall,
broken shard promises, and loving
again without love.
can you hear her now?
quiet wings
tucked in the past
she could have been a dream
she could have been orange
skies
above
me.

Devil

life is often strange
the used
car lot
with the pocket protector
dead salesman
greasy
and nicotine
teeth
like sodden trench
warfare
in France
circa 1916
he's got the deal
of a lifetime
if you're
willing to go down
under the desk
in the refurnished
office.
