SHORT STORIES

Jakeline Montiel

The evening was warm, a bright sunny day. The perfect day to watch fly baseball. Some of the monsters know how to fly, some breath fire, and others have different abilities, like stretching and super strength, etc. Fly baseball is like baseball, but these monsters use their abilities. One monster can stretch out his tongue out to tag the other monster out, the one run can bend all the low, he can walk like a crab, but backwards.

“Hey man, you can pitch better than that. You know you can still fly”

“Jessie, should you be so cruel? The man is going through time with his personal life and he is trying his best.”

“No, he’s not, he would at least be flying. and don’t tell me what to do Jessiel! I have freedom of speech.”

“I also wouldn’t recommend drinking all of that big slurpy. You may have freedom of speech, but does not mean you should always say what is in your mind and I am not telling you what to do. I am simply providing friendly advice. Up to you to take it or not.

“Well, I am not going to take your stupid advice. I am going to enjoy this fly baseball game and this drink.” As Jessie slurps, gulps, makes pleasuring noise, and as she finishes, she goes, “AAhh, that was refreshing.”

“Are you having fun or something, because that’s how I gulp down my drinks, kudos to you I guess, hee, hee, hhaa, hha.”

Jessie widens her eyes and turns to Jessiel. “Shut up! Let’s just enjoy the game and keep this rated G.”

“OOOKayy.”

Furthermore, the monster, who was depressed still couldn’t get a strike. His wife left him for a shapeshifter, who treated her well. The monster lost in his thoughts, “I wish I was making big bucks and can change into anything, or anyone.”

“Omg, look at him now. He is just lying on his back. If he keeps this up his team is going to have to forfeit.”

“Hhhm, if he cannot play, I’ll volunteer to play, I may not be the strongest or flexible monster, but I am pretty good at anticipating every move.”

As Jessiel carries herself tall and straight, walking down the steps and into Dugout to speak with the manager. “Hey, you’re not supposed to be here, team members only.”

I know, I know, but hear me out. I would like to stand in for Joey, see that he is starting shed big tears. You don’t want the field to turn into a swimming pool, do you?”

The coach whistles at Joey, “Hey, get out of there! I am switching you with someone else.”

Joey slouches back, while he inhales,”Ohhkay.”

“Cheer up boy, there are plenty of fish in the see. Why, look at me, I have been divorced three times, eat, clean, drink whenever I please and answer to no one, especially to them kids.”

Joey’s eyes are like a river that is flooding, sucks in his lips. His eyes go big and falls into his lap. “Oh, what a world, God take me now.”

“Alright Jessiel, it’s your turn. You got this. Ohh, you really got this. I underestimated you. As Jessie watches Jessiel make strike after strike, hit after hit. She dozes off and--

“I also wouldn’t recommend drinking all of that big slurpy....” Pop, Jessie slides off her seat, Shites, damn Jessiel, why do you have to be right?” Jessiel picks herself up and races away from her seat.

“Move it; hey I said move it!” While is still yelling and shoving people out of her way, finally she is where she needs to be.

“Lady, you are not the only one who has to go, you gotta wait like the rest of us.

“Ohhh fudge, but it is an emergency, may I pretty please, with the cherry on top, go in front of you?”

“Well, since you asked so nicely, sure, but I cannot speak for the rest.”

“Thank you. Jessie was crossing her legs and the minutes were passing by. As she looks all around, “Ohhhh, omg, omg! What time is it?! I can take this anymore; I am out of here!” As Jessie walks away and desperately looks around. “Ahha, this will have to do, does not matter how low I have to go.”

“Ma’m, what on tarnation are you doing to that wall, I am going to have to take you in.”

“Go ahead officer, I have done what I had to do and it was worth it, ahhh!”

“You are disgusting!”

“Hey! I did what had to do, that damn line was too long, I could not wait any longer! If you have to arrest me, do so, but please just shut up already!”

“Ohh, you can count on it, little lady, come on.”

“Once Jessiel hit her last homerun. She was ready to knock out. “Alright everyone, have good rest of the day, I’m ready to bounce. Hey Joey, look on the bright side, we won and you got plenty of rest, since, I took over.

“Hmm, I guess you’re right, I do feel a bit better. I just need more rest, some comedies, and munchies. Bye.”

Meanwhile, Jessie was incarcerated. “Ughh, can I at least get a better cell, this bed is hard and I don’t even get a toilet where there is privacy?”

“Does that last one even matters to you?”

“You’re right, never mind about the toilet, but can I get pillows or some sort of cushioning because thing can’t possibly good for anyone’s back.”

“Look, little lady, I don’t know how long you plan on being here. Mine is to clock out before it gets dark out there, so call someone to bail you out already!”

“Whoa, officer cool your tits, I have someone in mind.”

Moreover, as Jessiel walks up to the stadium and up to the steps. Her eyes shifting all around, “Mmmm, oh where oh where is my little sister. Oh where, oh where can she be. Take me out on a ball game game, hmm, hmm.” (Artist, Frank Sinatra). Rinng, rinng.

Jessiel snaps out of her trance, “oh, I wonder who can that be.”

“Jessiel, I am, uhh, mmm, sort of locked up in a cell, come get me, please.”

“Why are you locked up?” Jessie explains her situation.

“Anyway, are you getting me out or not?”

“I will be there in a few.” Jessiel walks out of the stadium and inti the parking. She sees her car, gets in and starts driving. She sings, while driving. Once she arrives and goes into the station. She notices the officer.

“Hey officer, where is Jessie?”

“I’ll walk you over there and you also have sign a couple of forms.”

Jessiel inhales in and out. “Ahhh, I expected so.”

“Ok, here she is.”

“I’m ready to be free as bird.”

“Not yet Jessie, I just need to sign some things.” A few moments later.

“Ok, here ya go.”

“Everything seems to be in order, your little sister can go and since she is a minor, it is your responsibility to deal with the ticket or works something out with the judge.”

“Of course, you do something reckless and I have to pay the consequences.”

“Butt--...

“Let’s go already, I’ll deal with it later, I am exhausted.”
