AS MY EYES CONTINUE TO FALL

POETRY

comparison will be the death of me
comparison will be the death of me
as i continue to watch others succeed
& ask myself constantly
if i’ll ever achieve
that level of success
without actually doing shit.
comparison will be the death of me
yet i keep doing very little
to actually do something about it
& bring something worth talking about.
school time keeps coming to an end
school time keeps coming to an end
though it should have been a while ago
so my students can have fun
like many of their peers do
before the end of may
till around mid august.
it’s really quite a shame.
they already live
in a place that’s pretty fucked
& being in school
at this point of the year
isn’t much fun.
comparison is at an all-time high.
they constantly talk to me
about how others are having fun
& how they feel stuck.
i can’t do much.
i would feel the same
if i were treated the same way.
as my eyes continue to fall
as my eyes continue to fall
i wonder if i’ll be able
to keep up this routine
with the passing of time.
i need to take care of myself
& sleep lot better.
as the seconds keep flying
i keep getting older
& before i know it
i will be my father’s age
& i don’t know if i’ll be as active
as he is at his age.
