HAPPY BIRTHDAY WINNIE THE POOH!!!
ALM No.95, November 2026
ESSAYS

It is now 100 years since the writing of the children book about Winnie the Pooch. And in this special month of October the little bear and all his friends are together at the New York Public Library in Manhattan! Walking through the library and then coming up to the glass display case and seeing these original stuffed animals can be quite starling and surprisingly special!
What is even more exciting is the reaction of young children coming to the library and seeing the original stuffed animals for their very first time. As one watches their youthful faces looking at the stuffed animals you realize this is a very special moment for them now too. These stuffed animals are their childhood memories and now they are literally right before their own very eyes! Their looks of excitement are there as I took their candid picture. Now my photograph has captured what childhood magic and excitement actually looks like when you see it in a photograph from a child’s eyes!
Even though it is now over 100 years old since Winnie the Pooh was first published, it remains special and personal to all children who had that book read to them for fun and to help them fall asleep at night. In the end, it still makes them feel surprise and wonder. And it remains important to all children by gently whispering to them ……. believe in fantasy both once upon a time from their childhood ……. and now forever as they grow bigger and older every day!
