The woods stretched around Khalisie, and she grinned, soaking in the thrill of being out on the trail.

“Some, but how long are we going to be out here?” he asked

“I don’t know yet,” she said, “maybe till later this afternoon why?”

“I would like some water, and we didn’t bring any” Manny Man said.

“You are such a baby sometimes,” Khalisie said. “Let’s look for some.”

“Thank you, Khalisie.”

“Yeah, Yeah,”

As they looked for water they left the trail. Manny Man started whining because they were going deeper into the woods and it was getting darker the further, they went. Manny Man asked “Khalisie, should we be leaving the trail?”

“Just be quit, Manny Man, I’m trying to listen for water.”

“Khalisie, I’m just worried that we will get lost or worse eaten by a wild animal.”

“OMG Manny Man, grow up I know what I’m doing, If you are so scared then find your own way back.”

“I think we both need to head back before we get lost out here.”

“We won’t get lost I know what I’m doing,” she said.

So, they go a little further, and after a while they find water. Khalisie says “I told you I could do it.”

“Sorry, Khalisie you really did find water like you said, but can we head back now please.”

“Sure, Manny Man.”

Khalisie and Manny Man head back the way they came but they start to get all turn around. Khalisie starts to get a little worried, but she tries not to let Manny Man know that she just got them lost. For all her earlier boasting about know where they where she was just as scared as he was now. She kept thinking Khalisie, you can do this, you are not going to let the both of you guy die out here.

“Khalisie, do you know which way to go?”

“Sure, I do, why do you ask Manny Man?”

“Because we just passed that tree for the third time and we should have went the other way I think,” he said

So as they turned around and started the other way, Khalisie said “It is a beautiful day isn’t, Manny Man?”

“It really is, Khalisie,” Manny Man said. “But I really can’t wait to get back.”

“Damn Manny Man, I know and we will be back,” Khalisie growled at him.

About that time, they both heard a wolf in the distance, they both looked at each other and said at once “Oh, Shit”

Manny Man started to shake and whine and freeze. Khalisie started to yell at him, “Manny Man, we need to go now!”

“But, but, but…” Manny Man stuttered

Khalisie just started telling him as well as push him on their way.

“Are you sure the wolf isn’t this way,” he whispered.

“Manny Man, we really don’t know but, we need to get going.” She was starting to get very upset with him. But she needed to remember that he is still a baby. “Manny Man lets hurry up now.”

As the minutes turned into hours Manny Man, was getting tired and started to slow down and started to whine again. All through the day they kept hearing the wolves.

“Khalisie, do you think we will every make it back?”

“Yes, Manny Man we should be back soon,” she said. I really hope so. She thought.

“Manny Man, we made it back,” Khalisie exclaimed.

They both ran up to their two-legged parents barking and yapping at their feet.
