Moonlight

The sun crosses the sky

and vanishes behind the trees.

The moon shines

from a pool of stars,

bathing fields and farmland

in a soft glow.

Moths flutter high

into the air,

drawn to the shiny orb

above them.

They cannot reach it,

but still enjoy its light.

Yet the moon

shrinks over time,

smaller and smaller,

until it disappears entirely.

All seems lost.

But as the nights pass,

the crescent grows larger

and the full moon

rises again.
