PARADISE

In your place of residence, my paradise

You make sense of my poverty

I am well to do in your presence

You overlook my loss of opulence

Your world of art, history and classical music

I dissociate from my wantonness

Wantoness that reveal my fortitude

Speak the language of wealth

Time with you is pleasure

I the damaged princess

Explore the land of dreams

The realities of realities

Laugh without a care

Laugh till tears overflow my eyes

Paradoxical I feel I belong

In the warm firelight

Mellow against the frigid cold outside your door

You fill my past with gifts of amnesty

You fill my mind with senses of abundance

MY WABI SABI

The house was in the valley

Standing below Mount Mulhacen

The molten rock valleys

Where beauty was ever glow

It was a masterpiece

Alone in its grounds

It spoke to my tenor, my temperament

It had a firmness of purpose

Echoed my voice, my ethos

Inside it revealed itself to me

Needed the warmth of a fire

The comfort of love

Children and what home craves

The place one desires

Faraway from the labour of the hours

A place called Home

GRATITUDE

Gone are the days when we lived for free

With no bills to pay

No internet, electricity and mobile phones

Days were full of sunlight, joie de vivre

No cctv on every corner

To monitor my movements

Police check for to me obtain employment

Mind your manners it may just irritate the stranger

Mind your manners it may get the police called to your home

Humanity respected humanity

We were a central stem tied together

A framework stretching into our raceme

Blossoming flourishing we were soft earth

Flowing water sinuous well formed easy

Incense to the earth mother

Our skin was without the invisible collar

The collar of our skin colour

We were neighbours

Sheltered each other as kith and kin

The days were gratis unpaid for

Granted my feet rest

Watch the seasons without a stir

We had texture to our humanity

Gratitude in our peace

HEAVEN

I discovered a place were the sky had no end

The Sahara was not dry parched territory

Dreams came true like the rainbow after the rains

And everyday was Christmas with gifts to bare

I discovered a place where living was eternal

Daylights with no labour of my hands

The seas were tranquil,soothing

And gold paved the streets

I discovered a place were trees were evergreen

Mountains were easy with no snow on the peaks

Roses bloom all year

And winter was a legend

HOME

I caught sight of him on 42nd Street

His name escaped me

Tall and refined my heart skipped a beat

Inhaled I held my breath

My world swirling, spinning

I was dizzy, sweating

Weak at the knees

I lost my heart in this moment

Time slowed to a crawl

Crushing I fell head over heels in love

I fought to hold on to my energy

But he was a powerful magnetic force

He smiled we embraced as if it was our last embrace

We muted the world around us

I felt like I was home
