Sundogs

And to the left of the sun, beyond its glow,
Is that a soul preordained to stand alone?
Or an emblem of some pit? I don’t know.

Concede the arithmetic of pits:
A circle and one rotating line -
That is all that a cone is. I admit
There is the law of the mighty number pi,
But I bless all such numbers of the sky,
Twenty-two over seven’s loci.

So as the Master, the Builder who Destroys
I make parhelion clouds dehisce to signs
And the Kali Yuga fades. It’s just noise.

And all my warriors I call Chords -
For I am of Sagittarius -
You’re like music for topazine assaults
With every bow an exalted D-shaped harp
Airs now arrowing far above the scarp
Twenty-two degree sundogs their mark.

And to the dark that the sun will try to be
I am the One who will fight to stand with Chords
Spotting Kavi in the clouds. I’m Kalki.

Signals Inflow

Praise great news towers have received! Faint signals hail our world!
Now we all have heard them
We will wait!
Wait on this glass plain -

For craft scarred with the Spiral's fire
Craft saved by the brave
And by the Swan:
Saved by Hamsa's flair.

Then wild tales will be ours to sing!
Tales waning and dark
Yet of the Glow -
Tales inspiring awe.

We look up: and all of the daytime stars
Bright red in the swirl
Now cannot hide,
Cannot blur our goal;
Exalting, we march forward and raise our arms
And feel then in the ion warmth the true infinite
That is bonding us within Kalki.

Daniel King: "I am an Australian gay writer, with a strong interest in Hinduism (particularly pertaining to Kalki, the 10th and final avatar of Vishnu, the Preserver, incarnating now and forever together with Shiva, the Destroyer), mysticism in general, and astronomy. As a surfer, I am also strongly influenced by marine imagery."
